Are you living your life on autopilot, waiting for the perfect moment to finally do the things you dream about? In this episode, I\u2019ll share three ways to break free from the \u201csomeday when\u201d mindset, so you can start living with more purpose, energy, and joy\u2014right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you too comfortable in your life? Have you settled for \u201cthis is good enough\u201d? Are your days blending into one another, where you don\u2019t even know what day of the week it is? I want to challenge you, because I want to challenge myself. Our lives are not a dress rehearsal. This is it; we don\u2019t get a do over. If you\u2019re in the mindset of \u201csomeday when\u201d and you have a whole story you\u2019ve told yourself about when these things are all in place you\u2019ll start living your life, I\u2019m here to tell you that is an illusion. It\u2019s the someday-when lie, the someday when the kids are gone, I\u2019ll put more time in my marriage. Or I\u2019ll take that writing class and write that book I\u2019ve always wanted to write. I\u2019ll plan that trip. I\u2019ll meet my person. I\u2019ll use the nice china that\u2019s been in the cabinet all these years. I\u2019ll call some of my friends that I haven\u2019t talked to in years and rekindle that friendship. I\u2019ll start on my better health journey, by walking, hiking, working out, eating better. I\u2019ll take my friend up on their offer to come out and learn pickleball. I\u2019ll get that knee replacement I\u2019ve been putting off. I\u2019ll start attending church in person again. Someday, I\u2019ll figure out what I really want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I shared all of that, what did it bring up for you? What\u2019s the area or area\u2019s you\u2019re saying someday when? What is your someday when? This is important, and yet we put it off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let me tell you about a time this hit home for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several years ago, I was sitting on my side porch after I had a quiet time of reading the Bible and journaling my prayers. I wasn\u2019t sad but I wasn\u2019t too happy either. My kids were out of the house, we were empty nesters and my husband and I were basically roommates. He did his thing, I did mine, but I knew it wasn\u2019t what I wanted.&nbsp; I wanted a loving thriving passionate marriage, but I was in the \u201csomeday-when trap.\u201d&nbsp; I knew if things were going to change in this area, I had to change. So, I did! Our adult kids do not even recognize our marriage from then to now. I have that loving thriving passionate marriage I had only dreamed about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s talk about three ways to break free from the \u201csomeday-when\u201d trap and start living more fully, right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Point A: Notice Where You\u2019re Settling<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a real, honest look at your life. Where are you saying: \u201cthis is good enough\u201d instead of: \u201cthis is what I really want\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Awareness is the first step to change. If you don\u2019t know where you\u2019re settling, you can\u2019t make a shift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, write down one area of your life where you\u2019re waiting for \u201csomeday.\u201d Is it your health? Your relationships? Your creativity? Name it. That\u2019s your starting point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Point B: Take One Small Action<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Choose one tiny action that moves you closer to your \u201csomeday\u201d today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Big changes start with small steps. Action breaks the cycle of waiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to write a book, write one paragraph today. If you want to reconnect with a friend, send a quick text. If you want to get healthier, go for a five-minute walk. You want to be more connected with your husband, do something unexpected bring him a cup of coffee. The point is to do something, no matter how small.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Point C: Celebrate Progress, Not Perfection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acknowledge every step you take out of your comfort zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We get discouraged when we focus only on what\u2019s left to do. Celebrating progress keeps you motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of each day, write down one thing you did that moved you forward. It could be as simple as using the nice china for dinner or saying \u201cyes\u201d to a spontaneous invitation. Or moving over to your husband\u2019s side of the bed and giving him a hug before you get up in the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So, let\u2019s recap:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Notice where you\u2019re settling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Take one small action toward your \u201csomeday\u201d today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Celebrate your progress, no matter how small.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, your life is happening now\u2014not someday. Don\u2019t let comfort or exhaustion steal your moments. You deserve to live fully, right now.
