Like eyesight. Or waistlines. Or the ability to stay awake past 9 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But something shifted in me not long after I turned 60. I started asking deeper questions\u2014not just about how I looked, but about how I&nbsp;<strong>felt.<\/strong>&nbsp;Was I moving through life with strength? Could I walk without aching? Could I keep up with my grandkids\u2014or even my own calling?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most importantly, was I treating my body the way&nbsp;<strong>God intended me to?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because here\u2019s the truth that hit me hard one morning as I sipped my coffee and stared at a reflection I didn\u2019t quite recognize:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This body is God\u2019s temple. And it\u2019s still worth honoring.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The \u201cTemple\u201d Perspective Changed Everything<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let me take you back a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I grew up thinking that caring about your body too much meant vanity. And after years of caregiving, church ministry, stress, and busy days, my body became more of an afterthought than a priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But then I read 1 Corinthians 6:19 in a new light:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cDo you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It stopped me in my tracks. Because I realized\u2014I don\u2019t have to worship my body,but I&nbsp;do&nbsp;have to&nbsp;steward&nbsp;it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That means listening to it. Nourishing it. Moving it. Resting it.<br>Not for vanity\u2014but for&nbsp;vitality.<br>Not to be admired\u2014but so I can stay available to whatever God is calling me to in this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What \u201cEnergy\u201d Really Looks Like at 60+<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s redefine something right now:<br>Energy is not about youth\u2014it\u2019s about alignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Alignment with how your body was created to move.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alignment with how your mind was created to think.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alignment with how your spirit was created to rest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I began to&nbsp;align my daily rhythms&nbsp;with that truth, energy followed. Not the kind that makes you feel like running marathons (although, more power to you if that\u2019s your thing!)\u2014but the kind that helps you wake up&nbsp;refreshed, move through your day&nbsp;present, and go to bed&nbsp;fulfilled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I made three key changes: movement, nourishment, and mindset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. I Moved\u2014Gently, Consistently, Joyfully<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I didn\u2019t join a gym. I didn\u2019t hire a trainer.<br>I started with a walk around the block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One lap. Then two. Then around the whole neighborhood. Some days I prayed. Some days I called a friend. Some days I just listened to the birds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then I added light stretching. Ten minutes in the morning, a few in the evening. I found a 10-minute YouTube video for \u201cstretching over 60\u201d and followed along in my pajamas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before I knew it,&nbsp;my body responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I had less stiffness. Less pain. I could bend more easily. I stood up straighter. My back didn\u2019t groan when I got out of bed. I even started dancing in the kitchen again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Movement became more than exercise. It became&nbsp;<strong>worship.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. I Nourished My Temple Without Rules or Guilt<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019ve tried diets. I\u2019ve counted carbs and cut sugar. And I\u2019ve felt the shame when I \u201cmessed up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But this time, I asked a different question:<br><em>\u201cHow can I feed my body like it\u2019s a temple?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not a trash can.<br>Not a punishment project.<br>Not a weight-loss experiment.<br>A&nbsp;temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That shift changed everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I started adding instead of subtracting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>More greens, not fewer calories<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More water, not fewer meals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More real food, not fewer treats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More protein to keep me strong<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More teas, soups, herbs, and colorful veggies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, I still have chocolate. Yes, I still enjoy my morning coffee. But now I eat&nbsp;with love, not rules. I eat to be strong, not small. I eat so I can serve well, think clearly, and feel alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. I Changed My Mindset From Fixing to Flourishing<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The biggest change wasn\u2019t in my body. It was in my&nbsp;mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I stopped trying to \u201cfix\u201d myself.<br>I started learning how to&nbsp;flourish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The world tells us that after 60, it\u2019s all downhill. Slower, saggier, weaker, tired. But the Word of God says something different:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThey will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.\u201d \u2013 Psalm 92:14<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m not here to shrink. I\u2019m here to&nbsp;bear fruit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m not here to fade. I\u2019m here to&nbsp;shine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m not here to decline. I\u2019m here to&nbsp;align&nbsp;my temple with the presence of God\u2014so I can have strength for the journey ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>My Simple Daily Temple-Renewing Routine&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I keep it simple. I\u2019m not rigid. But this rhythm works for me:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Morning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thank God for the breath in my lungs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drink a full glass of water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Light 5\u201310 minute stretch with worship music<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eat a nourishing breakfast (protein + greens)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take a walk or move gently<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Midday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check in: Have I moved? Breathed? Drank water?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eat something colorful + energizing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take a short break\u2014sit outside, read, or pray<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Evening<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Light dinner (veggies, fiber, soup)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gentle stretch, maybe with tea or a podcast<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gratitude journal before bed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Early sleep\u2014no guilt!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don\u2019t have to do everything. Just do&nbsp;something.<br>Start with one small shift. Build from there.&nbsp;Grace over guilt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Final Thoughts: Your Body Is Still Good. Your Life Is Still Sacred.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I want you to know something, dear sister in Christ:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are not too old.<br>You are not behind.<br>You are not a project to fix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are a woman of God\u2014strong, wise, deeply loved.<br>And your body?&nbsp;Still sacred.<br>Still worthy of care.<br>Still capable of joy, movement, strength, and new beginnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is your temple.
