It\u2019s almost mid-year, and I don\u2019t know about you, but this year has flown by more quickly than any I can remember.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is my first year as an empty nester, and while I\u2019m thoroughly enjoying our newfound freedom, I\u2019m also more aware than ever of the fleeting nature of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why a mid-year check-in feels more important than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, you may be thinking: Why?<\/em> I don\u2019t have a boss watching the clock. I don\u2019t have little kids depending on me. I don\u2019t have deadlines I have<\/em> to meet. Why not just relax a little?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And honestly? Of course you can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can stay up late, sleep until noon, and enjoy bonbons while watching Hallmark movies all afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the bigger question is: why would you want to?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By this stage of life, most of us are pretty clear on who God created us to be and what He\u2019s placed in our hearts to do. And I\u2019m guessing none of us received a calling to \u201csloth more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We still have purpose. We still have gifts. We still have opportunities to encourage, create, serve, and love others well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So here are a few reasons I think it\u2019s worth making the most of the years we\u2019ve been given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.\u00a0 You were made for more<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ephesians 2:10 says, \u201cFor we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That doesn\u2019t mean exhausting ourselves trying to prove our worth. It means using the gifts, talents, wisdom, and experiences God has already placed inside us. Often, our \u201cgood works\u201d flow naturally from the things we genuinely love doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. You are setting an example<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Whether your children are 8 or 48, your family is always watching. Friends are watching too. They notice when you continue growing, serving, learning, creating, volunteering, encouraging, painting, teaching, mentoring, or simply showing up faithfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your life gives others permission to keep living with purpose too.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Doing what you love feels great<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You know that feeling when you\u2019re doing something that comes naturally to you? Something you\u2019re good at and deeply enjoy? Time flies. You feel energized and fulfilled. There\u2019s a deep satisfaction that comes from using your gifts well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That feeling is a gift from God too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So why not make room for more of it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This season of life isn\u2019t meant to be wasted. It\u2019s meant to be lived fully and intentionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A simple mid-year check-in can help us pause and ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Am I spending my time on what matters most?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Am I using the gifts God gave me?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Am I growing, serving, and loving well?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Am I becoming more of who He created me to be?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s never about striving for perfection. It\u2019s simply about staying awake to the life we\u2019ve been given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because one day, when our time here is finished, I want all of us to hear these beautiful words from the One cheering us on the most:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell done, my good and faithful servant.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
