The resurgence of grandma\u2019s home remedies truly are<\/em> making a real comeback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the dearest people in my life is my girlfriend, Lesley.  She is an incredibly accomplished vocalist and phenomenal vocal coach here in my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. When you walk into her cute second floor vocal studio, Sing USA, you will immediately feel and smell the essence of whole health. There are essential oils burning, throat coating hot tea offerings made with spring water for a fabulous \u201ccup a tea\u201d (in my best Mary Poppins voice here). She has literally become a self-taught expert on all things healthy; from \u201cfarm to table foods\u201d to anything naturally possible to remedy basic ailments of life (and some serious ones too), instead of just depending on Big Pharma to solve the problem.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Covid-19 crisis sent her into high gear. I benefitted from her passion and learned how to make my own hydroxychloroquine, elderberry syrup, saline and hydrogen peroxide nebulizing solution to help fight any coronavirus. Between these home remedies and her knowledge of knowing just how much of which<\/em> vitamin to take, I can truly say that I have not been sick with even as much as a cold for over 3 years. For those of us in her circles at church, work, or friend and family groups, we have been so very blessed by her selfless desire to help people heal. She has become our modern day, \u201cDr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.”  We all love to tease her because even her kids\u2019 friends know to ask \u201cIs it Lesley approved?\u201d before embarking on the partaking of a potentially unhealthy food, medicine, or even body care product choice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lesley was very proud of me recently when I followed the advice of a well-respected massage therapist in town who helped me cure a \u201ctrigger finger\u201d on my right hand.\u00a0As a pianist and vocalist, I was really beginning to suffer.\u00a0The therapist told me that she soaked her hands four nights a week in castor oil because of its properties that reduce inflammation.\u00a0She told me that she would not be able to continue her work without it.\u00a0So, I went to my local Rainbow Blossom Health Food store and bought the oil.\u00a0I covered my hand with it that night and placed a surgical glove over it.\u00a0The next morning, the swelling was 70% gone.\u00a0After a few nights of the same treatment, I can safely say that my Trigger Finger is 98% healed.\u00a0Hooray for castor oil!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know you have likely learned some tricks from grandmas and great grandmas in your lifetime. While I never ignore the advice of good doctors, Lesley has helped to remind me, and  I firmly believe, that God created EVERYTHING we need to help us live healthy, eat well, and be whole mentally, spiritually, and physically. I also know that it\u2019s so very important for us all to ask as many questions as we may have for the health professionals in our lives and to become our best advocates for our personal and our family\u2019s healthcare needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
