Making room in your heart requires letting go in the same way you decide to get rid of material possessions. Heart-room requires replacing anger and resentment with forgiveness. Making heart space involves releasing pride, admitting your part in conflict, and determination to soften rock-hard, long-held resentment.
Instead of having the mindset “it can wait,” I’ve decided to take on the mindset of “do it now.” What a difference this has made in my home. Where I was experiencing dread, I’m now getting on top of this area! My living space and my working space is looking better. I’m making the incremental changes, taking the necessary actions and the outcome has been incredible. It was not hard. It was a shift in my mindset.
I can now speak to why downsizing and or relocating is actually number three of life’s major challenges, especially for the those of us over 60 years old, moving and or relocating is a Lifesizing® issue, not merely a downsizing issue. You see, Lifesizing® incorporates the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of life, of these life challenges of downsizing, moving, and relocating.
My passion and message will always be motivating this powerful, beautiful demographic. To pioneer with me and bust open these outdated negative strongholds. To live the fabulous life we are meant to live.
While my house is clean, don’t look in my drawers or cupboards!! They are often stuffed and cluttered. Perhaps that is a symbol of our lives. While we may look great and all put together, don’t look inside. You might see the turmoil and angst we are dealing with. The emotional element of deep cleaning often prevents us from doing the physical work.
Remodeling your bathroom is one of the best investments you can make in your home. Depending on your age, different factors come into consideration. Is your personal preference most important, or is resale value? What is the value of the surrounding homes in your area?
My teacher kept telling me, “Stop thinking; just paint,” so I did. What came out of it was a very powerful painting that is still one of my favorites to this day. I titled it, Emerging/Disappearing?.
This was the beginning of a new direction in painting for me as I found that it gave me an outlet for all the emotions I had buried all my life. I have since sold many pieces and done commissions.
Since I found out how easy and cost-effective it is to change a tub/shower into a walk-in shower, I wish I had done that for my mother. This is even more important for the elderly who are still living in their own homes and taking care of themselves. I believe no elderly person should have to climb over a bathtub edge to bathe. Doing so, is asking for trouble.
I’ve helped my grandfather move from his home in Texas to a senior living home in New Mexico to a nursing home to heaven. I’ve watched my mom move from her large home in the Albuquerque foothills to an over 55 apartment near me. I don’t know about you, but I’ve found that it’s emotionally exhausting to downsize. And the great lesson is, sometimes stuff is just stuff. But memories last forever.
