As I asked other mothers what their ideal Mother’s Day looks like, it unanimously came down to one thing: TIME. We just want to spend time with our children. It may not even be on the specific day, but we want time to be with them. We’d like a day that is stress free, and relaxing.

Power of Permission
Why is it that sometimes as women, we need permission to do what we want or need to do for ourselves? Somewhere down the line we’ve picked up the notion that if we do so, we are being selfish! It is not selfish to put yourself up at the top of your priority list.
What is Beauty?
During the height of the global pandemic, I celebrated my 60th birthday. This was indeed a major milestone. In New Mexico, Salons were shut down, then reopened, then shut down again, and later reopened. All around me I saw women panicking about their beauty. How would they handle the grow out of gray hair, lack of perms and haircuts, and, worse, they so desperately needed their nails done. It was a crazy time for everyone. Piecing Life Together After Loss
I’m a grief counselor. I work in hospice care, reaching out to the loved ones after the patient dies. I call them a couple of weeks after the death and ask them how they’re doing. Then I listen. Like many of us, one woman had just lost her elderly mother. “I’m better than I was,”…

This was the beginning of a new direction in painting for me as I found that it gave me an outlet for all the emotions I had buried all my life. I have since sold many pieces and done commissions.
Do You Look Like You are Living Your Best Life?
When we reach this sweet spot in life, we get to choose how we want to look and what effort we wish to expend to get there. We will have additional blogs with more specifics, but for now, I offer a general overview of what Looking Our Best at 60+ might mean for you.
The Simple Thing I Wish I’d Done While My Mother Was Still Alive
Since I found out how easy and cost-effective it is to change a tub/shower into a walk-in shower, I wish I had done that for my mother. This is even more important for the elderly who are still living in their own homes and taking care of themselves. I believe no elderly person should have to climb over a bathtub edge to bathe. Doing so, is asking for trouble.
