(a surprise “Rest of the Story” to blog post “Earth Angels and the Jaws of Life”) On August 23, 2023, my husband, Scott, and I heard horrific sounds. We ran toward the sound and ended up aiding the of victims of a three-car crash that happened at the entrance of our neighborhood. We both assisted…

You Are Never Too Old to Take a Joy Ride!
As 2023 ends, what I simply want to convey to this “Living Your Best Life” Sixty Plus audience, is that I am going to continue to look for, abide in, cling to, bring as much as possible to others, but mainly, choose JOY in all circumstances as I am barreling through my sixth decade—and, I pray, for several more beyond.
Is It Lesley Approved?
Recently I followed the advice of a well-respected massage therapist in town who helped me cure a “trigger finger” on my right hand. As a pianist and vocalist, I was really beginning to suffer. The therapist told me that she soaked her hands four nights a week in castor oil because of the properties in it that reduced inflammation. She told me that she would not be able to continue her work without it. I covered my hand with it that night and placed a surgical glove over it. The next morning, the swelling was 70% gone! Now, after a few nights of the same treatment, I can safely say that my Trigger Finger is 98% healed.
Ordering Your Private World-Five Minutes at a Time
Fall brings on a little melancholy. I struggle with being as productive as I want to be. Instead of “falling hostage” to it, I have chosen to embrace it and work through it. I am also thankful for a little rule I learned to help me in those August, September, and October months to help me stay focused. It is called “The Five-Minute Rule.”
Earth Angels and The Jaws of Life
While I have walked through my share of trials and tribulations, I have never experienced this type of trauma. Both my husband and I feel as though we have been dealing with a little PTSD. Our bodies shook for several hours from the adrenaline that sprang into action in us after coming upon this accident.
Talents and Gifts
Do you still have a longing to use gifts and talents that you have put on the shelf while you were busy homemaking, mothering, or building a career? It is never too late! I have learned that age is just a number. It is my hope that you will continue to find new sisters in this after-60 phase of life—who are women living out their best lives.
Braces, Bifocals, and a Baby!
I reflected on the proclamation from the doctors who told me that I would never, ever, no matter what, be able to have a child, and that appeared to be the case for several years after major surgery to improve my prospects for motherhood failed. During that time, I truly gave in to God, found the strength to move on, and found ways to utilize my God given gifts and talents. As my girlfriends were becoming empty nesters and doting grandmas, I suddenly found that I would soon be in the throes of mid-life first time motherhood.
Helping America Vote
Why not consider “working the polls” as a simple, yet meaningful way to serve our country? The commitment is minimal yet vital to our freedom. At this point in our lives, most of us can make time for this important service.
The Age of Elegance
One would think that by the age of 60+, we would have reached the pinnacle for being comfortable in our own skin. But sadly, that’s not always true. I think we can all agree that true b-e-a-u-t-y is not achieved through the multi-billion-dollar beauty, fashion, and image industry.
