When I envisioned this new online community dedicated to encouraging and equipping women over 60 to live our best lives, I didn’t really know what it would look like or how it would flesh out.

When I discussed it with some friends, one asked: “What are you hoping to accomplish with The Best-Life Project?” A good question for which I didn’t really have a good answer. I thought for a moment and responded: “I am just doing what I feel God is telling me to do.”

If you haven’t read the Best-Life Dream Story—which tells of this projects’ inception, please do!

Best-Life Launch

We posted our first article on February 3, 2023 and officially launched a week later. This is our fiftieth post! We are now 113 days old. We have added new content about twice a week since then. The Best-Life Project currently has 18 different contributors from across the United States—both women and men. Yes, it is a site for women, but men have valuable contributions as well. I love how our contributors interact with readers by responding to comments made about the content.

We also have visitors from around the globe. Each week, our metrics have increased as have the followers to our companion Facebook page. If you are new to The Best-Life Project, please read my post on The Best-Life Definition. It will help you understand our vision.

Most Popular Posts

Depending on the day, the post with the most views changes. But here are some of the most popular:

Piecing Together Life After Loss addresses the grieving process and how we all grieve differently. It is written by my cousin Laurie TenHave-Chapman—a retired minister now serving as a hospice chaplain. So far, Laurie has written two posts specifically for The Best-Life Project.

Moving Ahead is about the difficult task of cleaning out our parents’ home (or in the case of the author, a great aunt’s) and sorting through the years of memories. This is one of three posts by Candy Arrington—an author of many books who I know from my CLASS Days. Watch for more from Candy.

What is Beauty? deals with deciding to let your hair grow out to its natural color. As one of the most popular posts, contributor Gale O’Brien has obviously hit on a topic of interest to many. This is one of two posts from Gale, but we look forward to more.

Power of Permission is about giving yourself permission to take care of yourself. It is our first from Tonya Parker, but it will not be her last. Tonya is a graduate of our CLASSeminar and the author of her first book: Rise Up…Taking Your Life To A Higher Level.

Get Ready for a Trip with Your Girlfriends is the first book review we’ve posted and it is actually about a four-book series, The Wild Water Walking Club, by Claire Cook. I wrote the review after reading the series. I loved the books so much, I wanted to encourage everyone to read them. Please let me know if you do.

Variety of Content

You can tell, The Best-Life Project contains a wide variety of valuable and relevant content. The “Relationships” and “Health and Wellness” categories have the highest volume of posts—though many posts fit more than one section. You can search the site in many ways: by author, category, or date. The five most recent articles are always listed at the top right side of the page.

Though when we launched The Best-Life Project three and a half months’ ago, I didn’t know if people would respond, if it would continue. Now, I love hearing comments from people who’ve been reading it. They tell me how much they are enjoying it, how they’ve appreciated certain articles. Some have even become a contributor or inspired a topic. If you have ideas for areas that should be addressed in the future, please let me know. We will be continuing to introduce new contributors and adding new content.

Sign Up and Share

Please help us grow this new online community by visiting the site regularly. You can sign up to receive updates as new articles are posted. Read articles on the topics that interest you and engage with the author and others by adding a comment. When something hits home for you, please share it with others—especially through your social media platforms.

Thanks for reading! I’d love to hear from you here!

Lauren, we are going through this era real time. Hence, it is a project in process—growing through our 60s and 70s, as well as the collection of essays here. We can’t write it til we experience it.

I have been percolating two possible blog posts if accepted:

      1. Getting to know your mom in her sunset years—a previous friendship; and

2 Why saying “sorry” is so important and cathartic—not just to the receiver of the apology, but also to the giver. As “Judging Amy” said, there’s no [effective] forgiveness without grace.

The most important thing is you took God’s lead! By doing that you are sharing things women need to hear & think about. Several articles have touched my heart. No wonder your project is off to such a great start! Thank you for being inspirational & for being a part of my best life!!!

This has been the hardest week since mom is no new cancer cells – woohoo we (mom me snd hubby) were supposed to drive to Ariz for mom see all her poker friends Thurs then my brothers court date Fri and going to cemetery to see daddy on my parents 67 anniversary then Scottsdale Sunday for her sisters birthday party
Well Saturday mom got an attack of vertigo snd went to emergency room
She’s till in hospital – so I made the trip to Ariz alone – l flew- seeing my baby brother be sentenced to prison was harder than I thought the night before I cried for 5 hours after that I went to the cemetery to see daddy snd cried more
Now I’m in Scottsdale at aunts birthday
In a way I’m sad mom missed this trip esp seeing daddy snd my brother but seeing that I’m a hot mess I’m sure she would have been worse !!!! I go home tomorrow and hopefully hubby has found a place for mom to get vertigo rehab cause the hospital is worthless
    I’m breathing deep breaths !!!!!
Thx dear friends for listening !!!!!!
